Alone is not Lonely

Child Protection

Protection MNCRD works with the media, civil society and children to highlight areas that need interventions to ensure the protection of all children. It equips the interlocutors to effectively engage with responsible duty bearers to ensure that children are not only protected but that those that are abused get the necessary justice through the enforcement of laws and psychosocial support. At community level, awareness raising is promoted while evidence-based advocacy is utilized at national level

Child Development

A nation’s future depends on the investments in a child. Children not only need quality education but also nutrition and health in order to develop holistically. By promoting early childhood care, development and education through the media, MNCRD works with other like-minded civil society organizations to ensure that children develop their full potential. It advocates for an education system that emphasizes the acquisition of knowledge, behaviours, values and skills other than merely passing examinations through memorization. To ensure a holistic development of the child, birth registration and immunization against diseases are at the core of the Network’s development agenda.

Child Participation

Involving children in issues affecting them not only brings a perspective adults may not have known but also develops their democratic attributes that can transform the way people engage in the development processes. MNCRD has been promoting the participation of Children’s News Agency (CNA), the Children’s Radio Listening Clubs (CRLC), the Junior Reporters magazine, the Junior Mayor/Council Chairperson (local government), the Child Parliament, the Children’s Climate Summit, the School Councils, and other community, national, regional and global platforms for children to engage with communities in awareness raising (peer education) and duty bearers for advocacy and lobbying. The children have been part of meetings such as the United Nations (UN) Day of General Discussion (DGD), the World Economic Forum, Anti-Child Marriage Summit for the African Union (AU), the Women Deliver Conference, the World Health Organization, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summits, among others.
